New constraints on the observable inflaton potential from WMAP and SDSS
Julien Lesgourgues (LAPTH (Annecy, France))
03 July 2007, 14:30 - 16:15
I will present the first constraints on inflaton obtained by directly fitting WMAP3 and SDSS-LRG data with the inflaton potential, parametrized within the observable range as a Taylor expansion of order two, three or four. This conservative method does not rely on the slow-roll formalism, and does not make any assumption concerning the extrapolation of the inflaton potential beyond the observable range. If the order of the Taylor expansion is at least three, the exact results differ significantly from what would be obtained by reconstructing the inflaton potential with a second-order slow-roll formalism. If the order is at least four, the favored models include cases with a large negative running of the primordial tilt.
